"Anti-Hindu brutality of TMC comes to fore": BJP's Sudhanshu Trivedi on fact finding committee's report

NEW DELHI: Criticising TMC, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Sudhanshu Trivedi on Wednesday stated that the report of the fact-finding committee formed by Calcutta High Court on Murshidabad violence has brought the "anti-Hindu" brutality of the TMC government in West Bengal out in its "ugly" form.

"The way a specific type of politics is going on in the country at present, it seems that it is ready to go to any lengths to destroy the internal security and structure of the country. Today, after the report of the SIT constituted by the court was released, the anti-Hindu brutality of the TMC government in West Bengal has come to the fore in its full ugly form," the BJP Rajya Sabha MP said while addressing a press conference.

Trivedi, further sharpening his attack on TMC, said the anti-Hindu atrocities committed under the TMC government have become clearly evident after the report came to the forefront.

"Following the SIT report by the committee appointed by the Calcutta High Court regarding the violence in Murshidabad, West Bengal, the anti-Hindu atrocities committed under the TMC government have become clearly evident. This SIT was formed on the orders of the court. It had three members. One of them was a human rights official and two were from the judicial service of West Bengal. They have given their observation on the events that happened on 11th April, 2025, due to which the mask of the TMC, the INDI alliance and the so-called self-champions of secularism have been completely removed," the BJP Rajya Sabha MP added.

Questioning the silence on the killing of a father-son duo, who lost their lives during Murshidabad violence, the bJP leader said, "Those who question, "Why war with Pakistan?" have not uttered a single word about the atrocities committed against Hindus in Murshidabad. Not a single word has been said about the brutal killing of a father and son Hargobind Das and Chandan Das. Yet, these very same individuals expressed sympathy for Pakistan following Operation Sindoor."

Trivedi's comments came after the fact-finding committee set up by Calcutta High Court submitted its report on the Violence that occurred in West Bengal's Murshidabad, highlighting that as many as 113 houses were affected badly in the village of Betbona during the violence.

It stated that the majority of residents had taken shelter in Malda but all of them have been forced to return by the police administration in Betbona village.

The report said, "Attacks were directed by a local councillor," adding that Local Police was completely "inactive and absent". It further said that the people want permanent BSF camps and Central Armed Forces for their own protection.

"The West Bengal Police did not respond. The villager of Betbona called at 4p.m. on Friday and 4p.m. on Saturday but police did not pick up the call," the reports added.

"A man came back to the village and saw which houses were not attacked and then the miscreants came and set fire to those houses," the report further added.

"A man came back to the village and saw which houses were not attacked and then the miscreants came and set fire to those houses," the report further added.

The report referring to the murder of Haragovinda Das (74) and his son Chandan Das (40), the report states, "They broke down the main door of the house and took her son (Chandan Das) and took her husband [Haragovinda Das] and hit them with an axe in the back. A man was waiting there until they died."
